Priyanka Chopra was born in Jamshedpur, Madhya Pradesh on 18th July 1982. She is the daughter of Capt. Dr. Ashok Chopra and Dr. Madhu Chopra. 5 feet 8 inches tall, Priyanka is former Miss India and Miss World 2000. She entered Bollywood films at age 20. She debuted in ‘The Hero’ of Time movies, in which she played supporting actress role with Preity Zinta and Sunny Deol was the hero. The film did not do well. Her second film Suneel Darshan’s ‘Andaz’ (opposite Akshay Kumar) did well and she started getting offers from the producers.

Priyanka says that her entry into beauty land and Bollywood happened by ‘sheer chance’. Her pics and entry form were sent in for the Miss India contest in 2000 by her mother and brother – without her knowledge – when she was only 17 and still in school! With offers of films, her doctor parents moved to Mumbai from Bareilly and Priyanka’s films began to explode with sex and glamour on the Bollywood scene. Priyanka Chopra has reached high on the success ladder after two 2004 films – Mujhse Shaadi Karogi and Aitraaz.

Farah Khan’s Happy New Year. Romance/Comedy category. The new year begins. A husband (Shahrukh Khan) is bored with his married life and decides to have an affair with a co-worker (Raveena Tandon). Meanwhile, his brother (Zayed Khan) is in love with a classmate (Priyanka Chopra) who has a crush on their gym teacher (Sanjay Dutt). His uncle (Amitabh Bachchan) comes over for a visit and finds out about the problems going on. With the help of the uncle’s nurse/assistant (Manisha Koirala), the uncle plans a mission to solve all problems. But unexpectedly their effort seems to be making matters worse! Recent Events  In the month of Aug, 2005, Priaynka’s father was diagnosed with cancer. She took leave from her busy schedule and came to Mumbai to be by her father’s side.

Priyanka recently became the brand ambassador for Spice Mobile in India and is busy designing a special ring tone for the company.

Priyanka was saved miraculously from an accident on the sets of Waqt, for which she filmed a rocking Holi song with Akshay Kumar. “During the shooting of the song,” she says, “Everybody was throwing water all over. I was almost electrocuted because of the failure of insulation to some wires. Luckily, a spot boy saved me and I was rushed to a nearby hospital. Now I am all right. I had quick medical attention and was back to shooting within a day.”

Priyanka won ‘the best actress in a negative role’ award 2004 for her performance in Aitraaz. But she swears she will not do such a film again. Instead, she yearns to do a period film like Mughal-e-Azam or Umrao Jaan.

Priyanka’s rumoured but mediacentric romantic ‘affair’ with handsome hero Akshay Kumar was reported in headlines during the making of Aitraaz. It was denied by both stars with denials printed in leading newspapers. Still, Akshay-Priyanka are described as a Star Jodi for 2004!

Bollywood news says that Priyanka Chopra has acquired a swollen head and that has created problems with many producers. As a result, she was out of Benaam made by Dinesh Patel, and Tango Charlie made by Nitin Manmohan.

It is believed by some that Priyanka Chopra Will Rule As Bollywood Diva In 2005.
